General Meeting of 747 EBHRA

June 16, 1990

Our general meeting in June enjoyed one of the best‑‑if not the best‑‑turnouts of any Association meeting ever. Twenty‑two people attended.

The five‑year capital improvement plan was discussed at great length. Items covered were:

1. Garage doors. Six doors have been replaced in 1990. The next group of doors will be replaced early next year.

2. Painting. Some members have expressed a desire to explore a possible color change for our buildings, trim and wrought iron. A suggested color selection will soon be shown on a building in the rear of the complex (west side of the street), which is scheduled first for painting.

3. Wooden fencing and gate replacement. Wooden fencing visible from the common areas will be replaced with stuccoed block. Replacement will be done with each building as it is scheduled for painting. Advance notification will be given to affected residents so that any obstructions can be removed (vines, bird feeders, etc.) Arrangements for pets kept in those areas must also be addressed.

Wooden gates will also be replaced with wrought iron. Options will be available to owners, at their expense, to upgrade those gates (keyed locks, scroll work, etc.).

A representative from Dimension Cable explained options available for providing cable TV to the complex. A committee was appointed to prepare a ballot for consideration by the Board, which will eventually lead to a vote by the general membership. The committee members are Loren Lake, Paul Phillips and J.R. Baker. Please contact these people if you have questions or suggestions about the cable TV issue.

Other subjects discussed included:

1. Keeping dogs on leashes and cleaning up after them.

2. Storing garbage cans out of sight between pick‑up times.

3. Pool gate being propped open (a violation of city ordinance) has become a big concern. There are small children living near the pool. PLEASE KEEP THE POOL GATE CLOSED AND LOCKED AT ALL TIMES.

4. A short discussion about a possible new name for the complex.

SPECIAL NOTE: Effective June 1990, our water rates increased dramatically. The old summer rates were: First 10 units=42 cents; Second 15 units=58 cents; Each additional unit=87 cents The new rate is $1.17 per unit which translates into a 40‑50% increase in our water bills! Please, everyone, try to conserve.
