747 East Bethany Home Road Association
Minutes for Board Meeting of October 15, 1998
Attendees: Rosie
O'Meara, Marie Martel, Rosa Lee, Jana and Don Simmons, Marcel Pincince, Agnes
Woodworth, David Cronin, Jan Ehn, Walt Fedourich and Betty Kizer.
1. Road sealing is in progress and will have been
completed by the time you receive these minutes. We all would like thank Walt Fedourich for all the work he has
put into getting this project completed.
2. Post lamp exchanges are now completed and they
look great We would also like to thank Mike Smith for doing all of the work
himself and saving us the cost of hiring an electrician. Also, Thanks to Mike for refinishing the
porch ceiling at 5815.
3. Rosie O'Meara plans to survey the complex to be
sure that no trees or vines interfere with fireplace chimneys. The association will trim any tree growing
on common areas and the owners will be notified if there are problems to be
rectified in their patios.
The owner at 5813 has agreed to have the crooked
pine tree replaced near her property since it has become a potential fire
hazard and storm damage risk.
Rosie will send a letter to the owners at 5838 to
request that Cats Claw vines be removed.
Their vines are moving onto the neighbors' buildings and roofs. The Board voted to ban Cats Claw and other
climbing vines a year ago last September.
They tend to grow out of control and are very harmful to the stucco and
wood of our buildings. So, any of you
who have climbing vines that are not strictly controlled from growing onto the
buildings and roofs, PLEASE remove them now,
4. Jan Ehn (263-9774) has agreed to become our new
treasurer since Lucy Seegan has resigned.
The Board voted to increase her salary to $75/month. We thank Lucy for her fine services in the
past.
5. Now that our road work is completed, Rosie will
contact the Fire Department about the regulations concerning fire lane
markings. We will then proceed to identify the fire lanes with red curbs,
etc. In the meantime, please observe
the fire lane signs and be sure to park so as to not impede traffic in our
streets.
6. Further pool improvements are tabled until early
next year so that we can build up our reserve funds to pay for those projects.
REMINDER
If you have a fireplace, it is your responsibility to keep the chimney
clear of vegetation and debris.
It is
also your responsibility to keep the
chimney clean by calling a chimney sweep
when necessary, to avoid the chance of a fire.
The next Board meeting will be on Thursday, November
12 at 7 p.m. at the pool.
